What is Intensity?

The magnitude of light energy per unit is referred to as “intensity.” The intensity of light emitted by a lamp diminishes evenly as light travels farther from its source.

Do Plants Require High-Intensity Grow Lights?

The ideal light intensity for a plant varies according to the specific species, the setup of the grow area, and the current stage of growth. Generally speaking, young plants flourish under lower light intensities while plants in the vegetative and flowering phase require a higher intensity of light. Supplemental greenhouse grow lights emit less intense light because they complement sunlight, whereas indoor grow lights should emit a higher intensity because their function is to serve as a substitute for the sun. Variable spectrum LED grow lights are a useful option in scenarios where the grower would benefit from adjusting the light intensity as needed.
