What is an Ampere (Amp)?

An ampere is the base unit of electric current, equal to a flow of one coulomb per second. This unit is often referred to by its abbreviated forms: “amp” or “A”.

How are Amps Calculated for a grow light system?

Amps are calculated as P/V (P=power in watts; V=volts). When setting up your grow light system, it’s important to know both the amps required to run your lights and the amperage your current electrical wiring system can support. If your grow lights use more amps than you have available, you need to either find an option that requires a lower amperage or call in an electrician to upgrade your electrical system.
